I’ve created a lot of line work illustration for the National Museums Wales group – it’s a cost-effective way of creating educational materials that have a unified, professional feeling with plenty of character.

To mark the centenary of the start of World War One, The Royal Mint asked me to illustrate and design a worksheet that would show children how medals are made. I took photos of the medal making process, illustrated the various stages in a comic-strip format and added the text.

Working with Frank is an absolute pleasure. I was looking for a local artist who would be able to illustrate a fact sheet and create a cartoon to accompany our new First World War exhibition, and Frank was recommended to us. They are relaxed, friendly and obliging yet very professional. It was great to see their enthusiasm in taking on a new challenge, and Frank tackled the task of condensing a 50-stage process for medal manufacture into just eight boxes with clarity and ease, inputting their own creativity to produce an exceptional result from a basic brief. Their Art Nouveau inspired design for the fact sheet was just beautiful. Dialogue with Frank is very easy and they address even the tiniest of tweaks with care and intuition. I hope that we will work together again.

This was a lovely little project to work on – a combination of lively animal illustrations, detailed skull drawings and a fresh colour palette means this family interpretation sheet for National Museum Cardiff always raises a smile.
The leaflet was produced in English and Welsh.

I was asked to tender for – and won – the design and illustration of this A5 family interpretation trail booklet for a world-famous tourist attraction in the North of England. I’m not allowed to share their name, hence the careful photographs that don’t show the whole of the pages.
Part of the commission was the design of embossing stamps that children could collect by finding out answers or thinking about discussion subjects raised.
Some of the illustrations for this project can be found here

This guide was commissioned to inform police officers, health professionals and the like of the issues trans people face and best practice when working with us. I hand-lettered the front cover, created the illustration from a photograph and designed the insides in a simple and accessible manner.
